As I learn more about Nemenhah I will write more. I must start writing now so as not to miss anything because I know this part of my life's journey is a very important one. I knew it would be when I read an email from my good friend and co-founder of the American Holistic Medical Society, C. Norman Shealy, MD, PhD etc.
To sum up Norm's email he basically said, "Check out www.Nemenhah.org, read their constitution, their declarations and join this organization." I had goosebumps from head to toe so I knew it was something I was going to be part of, goosebumps for me are a confirmation I am on the right path.
Nemenhah is a group of Native American's much like other Native Americans. They walk the Red Road which, in reality, is a VERY GREEN road, honoring Mother Earth and teaching her bounty with stories passed down through the ages. The thing that caught my attention about Nemenhah is the fact they are focussed on improving health through spiritual means and use the Religious Act of 1993 in the United States Constitution to protect them while they heal others.
Why do we need protection? In case you haven't noticed our country is taking away our rights to heal ourselves naturally; herbs, hands on healing, spiritual healing, energy medicine practices are all coming under attack from our not-so-illustrious govenrment. They are making it ILLEGAL to "hang a shingle" of any sort if you haven't gone through their idea of medicine based on prescription medicines and surgical procedures. If you can't cut it out then treat the symptom with harmful narcotics.
Now, don't get me wrong, there is a place for western, allopathic medicine in emergency situations I am all about having a doctor do what they can to save a life. But when it comes to curing a disease I DO NOT BELIEVE it can be accomplished by using a harmful drug on a continuing basis. "Dis"ease comes from within and everything from cancer to rosacea can be cured with natural healing modalities. I never get tired of reading reports on how someone's "incurable" cancer was completely cured by simply eating pureed asparagus. You can bet doctors won't learn about natural cures in universities funded by pharmaceutical companies (Norm calls them the pharma-co-mafia:)
So, for now, I will tell you I went to www.Nemenhah.org and downloaded their application for adoption, filled it out and sent it in. I couldn't afford the suggested donation but I know they appreciate whatever they get from me and will treat me as I should be treated; a healer in the truest sense.

I got out of bed again at 4am, which seems to be the time of day my Green Goddess is awake, and read the Medicine Wheel Pages of the Nemenhah. It is the first of many lessons I will learn as a Nemenhah. I am not officially part of their tribe yet but I am excited with their teachings. Anyone wanting to help heal this earth will be.
