When I want to "kick-start" a quick weight loss I will try to do a liquid diet for a couple of days. My meal replacement shake consists of 1 cup of rice, soy or almond milk 1 banana, 1/2 cup oatmeal 2 Tbps brown rice protein, 1 Tbsp Black Strap Molasses and 5 drops of Stevia. The above shake contains over 20 grams of protein, and a bunch of other good stuff (including over 700mg of potassium in the molasses-and nearly all of us need potassium!)
| Beans-black, white, green, yellow, red--all are a great source of nutrition. Blackstrap molasses- just like Grandma used, 1 Tbsp a day will give you over 700mg potassium. Cramping in your muscles may mean you need potassium. If our body doesn't have enough potassium, our electric circuits might short circuit ! Cheese- isn't all that bad for you, especially if you buy organic and most especially if you buy goat cheese-it's the hormones and steroids and other "crap" they feed our cows that is making us sick and making our children develop earlier...and don't get me started on the over-use of antibiotics...the diseases are becoming immune to them. Eggs- aren't all that bad for us, it's the way our chickens are treated and what they are fed that makes them unhealthy, buy hormone-free, steroid-free and antibiotic-free eggs laid by cage-free, happy chickens. Greens-turnip, collard, spinach, if it's dark green it's got lots of good stuff in it- I like to sautee all my veggies lightly in olive oil, probably should steam them and then drizzle olive oil on them afterwards, guess I better get a steamer. Honey is a natural antibiotic, and if you have pollen allergies, a local honey may help you. Meat-it is a fact that fish is easier for our bodies to digest than chicken, chicken is easier for our bodies to digest than red meat and red meat is easier to digest than pork. The campaign "pork, the other white meat" came out when the facts came out that is is so difficult for us to digest. There are a lot of very healthy vegetarians, personally, I still eat meat:) Oatmeal was pure and natural and good for us when we were young and guess what? It still is. Olive oil-when you buy olive oil get extra virgin, all-natural, cold-pressed...cook with it, drizzle it on everything, high in good omegas & antioxidants...I put it on my veggie pizza-hey, it makes it healthier:) Red wine actually has more antioxidants than grape juice-just don't drink more than a couple of glasses at a time-and not every day. Salmon and sardines have valuable omegas in them and are high in protein. Soy milk-read the label on Silk Soy milk, this one you can believe, of course, there is quite a bit of sugar in it so you may want to read the labels on some other brands of soy milk and rice and almond milk. They are all tasty and good for you. Soy Ice Cream Sandwiches- Organic L'il Buddies- www.turtlemountain.com. Stevia a great alternative to sugar, don't just sweeten your drinks, supplement them- found in some health food stores, I also sell a very high quality liquid variety from Sunrider. Sweet potatoes- bake them, fry them in olive oil, delicious and good for you. Tofu is a great source of protein and yummy when sliced thinly, marinated with soy sauce and fried in olive oil, for parmesan, sandwiches or To-fries. Yogurt- contains PRO-BIOTICS, live bacteria we need in our digestive system to make it work better. Many "digestive system problems" stem from the lack of it. Yogurt comes in low fat, but don't be fooled into buying sugar free-it will probably have some horrible artificial sweetener in it. Add honey or fruit or natural preserves for flavor-and you can add some yogurt to your shake:) This list is just to start you eating good food, try'em, learn to like'em. Pass it on.

________________ Another of my favorite quick healthy meals is a spinach omelet. I toss the spinach into my cast iron pan, which has a little SAFFLOWER oil in it, and sautee it. Once it is wilted I toss an egg in the pan, stir it up and let it cook through. REAL FOOD IS GOOD FOR US ! ___________________________ Bean and Cheese Roll Up is easy too. Just put a toritlla in the pan, spread some refried beans on it and a little cheese on top and roll it up, cook on med till cheese is melted. If you put just the right amount on and cook it just the right amount of time, the cheese won't drizzle out and you don't have to wash the pan:)

________________ There are actually some very healthy things on your grocery store shelves-you just have to read the labels, bring your most powerful reading glasses, and avoid artificial ingredients like high frustose corn syprup, aspartame, Splenda, and artificial colors (will they ever learn to leave that stuff out? Maybe if we scream loud enough :) Classico is a brand of red sauce I trust, Stoneyfield is the brand of yogurt I buy, there are whole wheat pastas, etc. Eating healthier is getting easier but don't be fooled-just because it SAYS it is healthy doesn't mean they are telling you the truth. READ YOUR LABELS, EAT REAL FOOD.
