| Whenever I work on Red's Music his messages come through so loudly and so clearly I have to write them down. That is why the first book is taking so long for me to finish, I can't stop writing the journal that will make up the next book ! The final chapter of the first book will be the weekend in Massachusetts with the world-renowned psychic-healers, but the story continues and gets more interesting by the day.
Today I decided to get back to work on Red's newest CD. Hazel (my newest psychic friend) told me Red felt his music was going to be in movies, so, I might as well get it out there as soon as I can:)
I am back at home and should be laying down (after the tooth extraction) but at least I am taking it relatively easy-going from the couch to the floor to the bath to the computer:) and I am not running around town, just listening to music and relaxing-as well as I can.
I had pretty much agreed with my friend, Dave at TinRoofShack Productions on the proposed song list. I think I want to call the CD "So Red" as this CD is SO RED ! The majority of the songs are Red Originals, songs he wrote and recorded to pass time. I found them on his ZOOM recorder after he passed to the next dimension.
I wanted to end the CD with a couple of songs he performed with other artists and remembered a great tune he did with/for Dave Feder, a genius at jazz. The song "Vuno Mayai" (GO AHEAD-GOOGLE IT:) was the #1 downloaded song in World Music when it first came out and there is a reason for it. Dave's a great composer and Red was awesome on his fiddle parts.
I listened to Vuno Mayai, the first song on Dave's CD entitled, "Black Emerald" and decided to write an email note to Dave asking for his permission to use the song. I got online and found his address and the file "Red Letters" popped up on my computer screen. I haven't read them in several months so I decided to read one and then write to Dave.
As I read the first email, written on November 17, 13 days before he died, he told me how much he loved me and that he was going to do whatever it took to keep our marriage together. We had been having troubles, alcohol and long distance stuff, and he was determined to stay by me forever.
I started to cry a little and the short little song entitled "Up above" came on the Black Emerald CD. It is nearly at the end of it and is performed by children. I had heard it dozens of times before but never REALLY HEARD them until today. It was as though Red were singing them to me,
"Up above where i live,
I fly into the air,
I flew into the clouds,
I was a spirit, I glide, heaven
A-yeah".
Well, needless to say, I had a really good cry after that. It is good to let the tears flow.
Better out than in ! I decided I wanted to put that on the CD too.
So, once I got myself back together I decided listen to the "So Far" CD. That is the studio CD he recorded with his buddy Bruce. I was there at the recording just north of Nashville. I started to cry again, after listening to "Hold On", which is what I sometimes feel like I am doing. I thought to myself, come on Diane, you need to pick a song.
And then it came on. The music played and the words came out of my heart and into the air,
"I don't want to cry, die a little more inside, from a pain that won't heal, cause of the way that I feel. And I don't want to bleed, forever by myself in need, for the love that has died, cause time was not on our side, It's over and I gotta let it go" etc... OK, Red, I got it. I'll use that one and finish with "Up Above" and work on mixing and mastering and getting it out on your web site. Thanks for your help.
